Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead

November 2, 2008

Mexico’s most traditional religious holiday is celebrated on this day.  Families remember the deceased by building altars, bringing flowers, lighting candles and enjoying their favorite foods.  During this time of year a special sweet bread, pan de muertos, can be found at local bakeries, and candy skulls, coffins and skeletons are available at markets.  Celebrations and candlelight processions are held all over Mexico in cemeteries.
